Saturday, January 21 Scoring Summaries

BOYS VARSITY BASKETBALL

Hicksville 76, North Central 38

By the half, the Aces held a 44-21 Advantage as they out manned the Eagles and double up the final score in the non-conference contest. None of the Eagles broke into double figures during the game as Josh Roesener led with nine points.

Pettisville 51, Evergreen 46

The Blackbirds won their ninth game of the season over the Vikings from the NWOAL. Four players competed for the game’s leading scorer honors. In the end Gabe Beck won the crown as he finished with 16 points for Pettisville. Detric Yoder added 13 points. Bryce Hudik matched up with Beck well as he led Evergreen with 15 points and Mason Loeffler added 12 points. Pettisville won the rebound battle 32-21 that helped their cause.

Holgate 57, Fayette 55 (3OT)

In a non-conference thriller, the two teams battled for three overtimes before a winner could be names. The Tigers won the extra sessions by a total of 14-9 to lead them to the long awaited win. With the extra time allotted, the Eagles scored four players in double figures led by Clayton Pheils with 16 including six of eight from the foul line; Travis Wagner with 15 including nine of 10 from the foul line; Tharyn Colegrove with 12 and Trey Keefer with 11 including five of eight from the foul line. 18 of Fayette’s points came at the charity stripe during fourth period action.

Van Wert 54, Bryan 47

The Golden Bears held a 26-25 advantage at the half but Van Wert won the second half to send Bryan to the non-league loss. The Golden Bears were led by Jaden Valderas with 16 points and Colt Arthur added 11.

The Eagles led throughout the non-conference match up to secure the win. .Jack Bailey led North Central with 17 points including six of seven from the foul line. Levi Williams added 14 including nine points from beyond the arc.

BOYS FRESHMAN BASKETBALL

Ottawa Hills 38, North Central 35

The Eagles struggled scoring just six points in the second half as they lost a close non-conference game. Landon Patten led North Central with 16 points.

GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL

Otsego 46, Delta 26

Airmate

The Panthers struggled in the second half being outscored 22-9 to drop the non-league game to the Knights. Maddie Mattimore led Delta with 12 points.

Anthony Wayne 45, Wauseon 36

The Indians sent Anthony Wayne to the foul line 21 times and the Generals took advantage of the 12 free throws to gain the non-league win. Wauseon had no answer for Anthony Wayne’s Renee Sangholtz who led all scorers with 17 points. Wauseon had a trio of eight point performances by Ally Tefft, Karli Penrod and Alexis Suarez.

VARSITY WRESTLING

Archbold, Edgerton, Montpelier and Wauseon competed at the 28th annual Chuck Forward Duals at the Thunderdome. The Bluestreaks came away with the team win as they scored the following victories: 72-6 over Hicksville, 53-26 over River Valley, 37-34 over Coldwater, 51-19 over Ayersville and 40-36 over Sand Creek. The following Bluestreaks finished perfect on the day: Austin Wilson, Gavin Grime, Noah Mattin, Gibson Burkholder and Brennan Short.  Other area wrestlers wrestling undefeated on the day included: Austin Grubb of Montpelier; Edgerton’s Micha Ritter, Chad Baumgardener, Jonah Brown, Jacob Huffman and Hunter Hamblin. Wauseon had two undefeated wrestlers in Nolan Ray and Aaron Newland.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL

Hilltop 30, Pettisville 17

Jack Collins

8th grade – The Cadets jumped out to a 16-4 half-time advantage and the cruised in the second half to the BBC win. T. Grant and K. Brenner led Hilltop with 10 points and seven points respectively. Pettisville was led by Ellie Wixom with eight points, Kearsten Zuver with seven points and Xavia Borden with two points.

Pettisville 29, Hilltop 19

The Blackbirds improved to 13-2 and 12-0 on the season with the BBC win. After leading by just 13-11 at the break, Pettisville won the second half 16-8 to secure their 13th win of the season. Addison Moyer led the Blackbirds with 11 points and Karsen Pursel added eight. Alex Horton and Lana Baker scored seven and four points respectively for the Cadets.

North Central 39, Stryker 10

7th grade – The Eagles led out of the gate with a 14-0 run during first quarter action as they dominated the rest of the way. The Eagles finished with two players in double figures. As Elser had 14 and Madison Brown added 12. Bailey Short led Stryker with three points.

North Central 43, Stryker 26

8th grade – Brown paced the Eagles with 10 points in the 17-point victory. Kinsey Myers was the game’s leading scorer with 14, eight of those points came at the foul line.

BOYS JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL

Buckeye Vet Hospital

North Central 43, Stryker 16

7th grade – The leading scorers for the Eagles included: Zack Hayes with 17, Colin Patten with 15, Sammy Wheeler with six, Mason Sanford with three and Tucker Beres with two.

Stryker 51, North Central 34

8th grade – Leading the way for North Central were: Roman Sutton with 21, Ben Turner with six, Zack Hayes with four and Luke Zuver with three.
