Sherry Zimmer (1948 – 2024)

Sherry Louise Zimmer, 75, of Pioneer, Ohio passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024 at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.

She was born on May 17, 1948 in Montpelier, Ohio to Robert Fredrick Gorsuch and Betty Jean Ellis. Sherry graduated from Montpelier High School and on August 23, 1965 she married the love of her life, Gary L. Zimmer, Sr. in Jonesville, Michigan and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2011.

Sherry retired from Pioneer Transformer and prior to that, she worked for many years at Mohawk Tools in Montpelier. She enjoyed shopping and her beloved puppies and will be dearly missed by her family.

Sherry is survived by her sons, Gary L. (Jessica) Zimmer, Jr. of Osseo, Michigan, and Leslie (Karleen) Zimmer of Montpelier; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and other family and friends.


She was preceded in death by her father, Robert F. Gorsuch; mother and stepfather, Betty & Jack March; two granddaughters, Heather A. Zimmer and Kassii E. Hernandez; two brothers, Robert F. Gorsuch, II and Jeffery Gorsuch; and sister, Melody Taylor.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 4-7 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. A funeral will take place on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer.

Memorials may be given in Sherry’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.thethompsonfuneralhome.com.
