The Stryker Local Board of Education met for its regular meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026, to approve a series of personnel recommendations, donations, and review end-of-year updates as the district prepares to wrap up the 2025-2026 school year.
President Brent Froelich, Chase Stuckey, Sharon vonSeggern, and Lincoln Calvin were in attendance. Board member Bruce Rosebrock joined the meeting shortly after.

Treasurer Nathan French presented the financial report for April 2026, and highlighted four donations received. They are as follows:
-CWU Thrift Shop donated $2,000 for student scholarships
-Black Swamp Arts Council donated $50 to the Art Club fund
-Lincoln Calvin donated $290 to the Food Service fund for student accounts
-Ruth Wieland Memorial & Fred Grisier Memorial on behalf of the Stryker Rotary Club donated $2,470 for the FFA fund
Elementary Principal Kallie Gensler reported several upcoming dates. May 18 marked preschool graduation, with May 19 hosting the elementary awards. The last day of school for Stryker students will be May 21, 2026.
High School Principal Jamie Grime noted that test results have been received and teachers are pleased. He also stated the graduation, held Sunday, May 17, 2026, went successfully with 30 Stryker seniors graduating.
He will be attending the Four County Career Center graduation on May 19, 2026, and estimated eight to nine students graduating.
The Board approved several employment recommendations for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, including Amy Oberlin for Transportation and JoAnne Bell for halftime food service positions. Froelich abstained from the motion approving Bell.
Several supplemental contracts were approved for coaching, advising, and extracurricular positions for the next school year, contingent upon season participation and school-related openings as follows: Kamie Beck, Mandy Oberlin, and Pat Leupp.
Tutor and event worker positions for Abby Donovan, Alexa Meade, and Elaine Aguilar were passed.
Additionally, volunteer golf assistants Daniel Donovan and William Donovan were approved.
Resignations accepted by the Board included Kamie Beck as administrative assistant and Mike Donovan from his supplemental role as ninth grade boys basketball coach for the 2026-2027 season.
Superintendent Nate Johnson announced that he is monitoring current changes in District Levy options and property tax laws.
“We have an emergency levy that will be expiring,” stated Johnson. “…we are looking at our possibilities and how that is going to be affected with all of the other property tax laws.”
He also addressed the possibility of property tax repeal and the effect it would have on the Stryker school district.
“Obviously, out of the property tax referendum, if that was to get on the ballot and passed, all of your public services would be highly affected in a very tragic, negative way,” Johnson said.
The Board then entered executive session at 5:49 p.m. to prepare negotiations or bargaining sessions with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms and conditions of their employment. No action was taken.
The next Stryker School Board meeting is scheduled for June 22, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
