STRYKER BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Hears Ag. Tech Addition & Courtyard Infill Construction Updates

ADDITION UPDATE… Nate Johnson, Stryker Superintendent, updates the board on the ongoing progress on the infill project and Ag. Tech addition, marking significant steps forward in Stryker Schools’ ongoing facility improvements.

The Stryker Local Board of Education met for its regular session on July 28, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. in the high school meeting room.

Board members present included President Brent Froelich, Vice President Emily Clemens, Sharon vonSeggern, Chase Stuckey, and Dan Hughes.

The meeting began with a call to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Board President. The board approved the presented agenda, with all members voting in favor.


The treasurer’s meeting minutes from June 23, 2025, were approved as presented. No public participation or visitors were noted during the meeting.

Under financial reports and recommendations, the board reviewed the Treasurer/CFO’s report for June 2025.

A supplemental contract for the 2025-2026 school year was passed for Football Assistant Coach Jon Mignin, with Stuckey abstaining from the vote.


Additionally, a “Then & Now” certificate was approved for interest payments on Series A & B Bonds to Huntington National Bank in the amount of $47,500.

In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignation for retirement of Susan Wlasiuk, custodial staff, effective January 1, 2026.

Employment contracts for the 2025-2026 school year were approved for certified and classified personnel, including new Band Teacher and Audio/Visual Director Evan Lumer.

The Superintendent, Nate Johnson, discussed some informational items with the board. The Ag. Tech addition is moving along with finishing touches, while the courtyard infill is being framed.


They expect to see HVAC and electrical work to follow in the upcoming weeks. Johnson stated,” It’s starting to make headway and success.”

August 13, 2025, was designated for a staff workday to prepare for the upcoming school year. The 13th also marks the official Stryker School Open House, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. August 14, 2025, is the first day for students.

An executive session was held at 5:39 p.m. under section 121.22 ORC, to consider the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee.  The meeting adjourned afterwards with no further action taken.
