Renewable versus non-renewable energy sources was the topic of discussion at the energy bike presentation held recently for 6th grade students at Stryker Elementary. Peter Niagu, energy advisor representing North Western Electric Cooperative, encouraged the students to pedal a special bike equipped with a small generator. As the students pedaled they were challenged to power up various types of light bulbs and small appliances, demonstrating the amount of energy needed for each object. North Western Electric offers a variety of educational and safety oriented electrical demonstrations. To learn more, contact Pearl Rakes at (419) 636-5051.
