Swanton Library Announces Fun Upcoming Events For All Ages

Tuesdays, December 1, 8, 15 at 10:30 am – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Children will learn about the skies above us through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Wednesdays, December 2, 9, 16 at 4:00 pm – Storytime. Weekly classes offered at Swanton Library for children ages 1 to 5 years. Children will learn about the skies above us through stories, music, and crafts. Free. No registration required.

Wednesday, December 2 at 4:45 pm – Board of Library Teens (BOLT) meeting. New members welcome!

Wednesday, December 2 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm – Hand-Painted Ornaments. Artist Cindy Aschliman will be here to lead a class through painting large glass Christmas ornaments. These can be personalized, making them great for gifts. Paint one or paint several; the fee is $10 per ornament. No previous painting experience necessary – just bring a friend and have some fun! Registration required.

Thursdays, December 3, 10, and 17 from 10:15 am to 11:30 am – Intro to Yoga. Join us for a series of yoga classes taught by Aimee Strohbeck. Please bring a yoga mat and towel and wear comfortable clothing for easy movement. No experience necessary. Class fee is by donation with proceeds benefiting the library. There will be no yoga on December 24 or 31 as the library will be closed.

Saturday, December 5 at 2:30 pm – Matt Jergens, Comedy Juggler. As part of the Christmas in Swanton celebration, join Matt Jergens in the Swanton High School Auditorium for a rollicking good time! Free for the whole family. This event is sponsored by FOSPL.

Mondays, December 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10:15 am to 11:30 am – Beginning Yoga. This class is slightly more advanced than the Thursday yoga class, offering students an opportunity to expand their skill level. Class fee is $10.00 per session with multi-session tickets available. Students are asked to bring a yoga mat and towel and to wear comfortable clothing.

Wednesday, December 9 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Anime Club for grades 6-12. Join us to watch two or three episodes of anime(s) chosen by the attendees and make armbands. Popcorn, food, and drinks will also be provided. Participants are welcome to come in cosplay, anime or otherwise. Teens who just completed these grades are invited. Free!

Thursday, December 10 at 7:00 pm – Adult book discussion led by Marty Kaback. This month’s topic is Dust to Dust by Tami Hoag.

Monday, December 14 at 7:00 pm – Swanton Public Library Board of Trustees regular monthly meeting. Open to the public.

Wednesday, December 16 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm – Star Wars Movie Release Party for grades 6-12. Join us at the library on to celebrate the new Star Wars movie! Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character for a chance to win Skye Cinema movie tickets. Make sure to brush up on your Star Wars knowledge, because we’ll be playing Jeopardy! for prizes! You’ll also have a chance to work on your lightsaber skills. And, of course, there will be lots of food! Call, come in, or visit our website to register. May the force be with you!

Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25 – The library is closed in observance of the holidays.
