BOYS VARSITY GOLF: Swanton Wins Home Golf Invitational Behind Malak’s Medalist Round

SWANTON JV … Swanton’s Eli Bolyard fired a 98 for the Swanton JV squad in the Bulldog Invitational at Valleywood Golf Club.


SWANTON – Swanton claimed its own golf invitational on Wednesday, Aug. 5, as the Bulldogs won the 10-team event held at Valleywood Golf Club.

Led by individual medalist Carter Malak, who shot an even-par 71, the Bulldogs tallied 299 strokes to win the title.

Other scores for the Bulldogs were Dylan Smigelski (72), Christian Butler (78), Camden Kozakaiewicz (78), Carson Bond (82) and Brendan Upham (88).

Montpelier was runner-up with a 311, followed by Otsego (330), Anthony Wayne (341), Delta (347), Liberty Center (357), Evergreen (361), Swanton JV (366), Maumee Valley Country Day (386) and Springfield (410).

Owen Sommer and Malachi Smeltzer both shot 76s to lead Montpelier. Other scores were Kade Stewart (78), C.J. Fidler (81), Drake Farley (83) and Rowen Saneholtz (96).

Keegan Clapp led Delta with a 73, followed by Lane Lopez (75), Luke Spiess (99), Brady Kile (100), Randy Wyse (104) and Sullivan O’Brien (123).

Brody Wyckhouse tallied a score of 73 to lead Liberty Center, followed by Tony Capretta (74), En Bailey (95) and August Cooke (115).

Hayden Timbrook led Evergreen with an 80, followed by Landon Ricker (90), Braxton Hudik (93), A.J. Gleckler (98), Gus Allendorf (105) and Blake Cousino (108).

Owen Hurst and Harrison Pancoast both shot 84s to lead the Swanton junior varsity squad, followed by Eli Bolyard (98), Gavin Voight (100), Wyatt Rhodes (103) and Gavin McFarland (104).
