Archbold, OH – The sweet harmonies of barbershop music will fill the air on Saturday, August 24 as The Singing Buckeyes of Columbus, OH present a fabulous concert at Sauder Village. In addition to the barbershop concert at 1:00 p.m., guests of all ages can also have fun in the past while visiting with costumed guides and working craftsmen at Ohio’s largest living-history village.

The Barbershop Concert in Founder’s Hall always draws award-winning performers and this year is no exception. The Singing Buckeyes Chorus is a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The group currently has nearly sixty active singers from all parts of the greater Columbus, Ohio area. The group regularly participates in the Johnny Appleseed District Chorus Competition and has won the contest eleven times. They have also participated in the International Contest seventeen times, finishing in the top ten six times and as high as seventh in the world. The group has traveled throughout the country to perform in Indianapolis, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Kansas City, Nashville, Miami, Denver, Anaheim, Salt Lake City, and beyond. The Singing Buckeyes have won eleven District chorus championships and are the only chapter in the district to win the contest in every decade it has been held.

“Traditional barbershop music is a perfect fit for a special event at Sauder Village,” shared Kim Krieger, PR/Media Relations Specialist. “We look forward to having The Singing Buckeyes share their talent at Sauder Village. It’s sure to be a fun-filled afternoon in Founder’s Hall!”

Other upcoming events at Sauder Village include Home School Appreciation Days September 3-6 and September 10-13 and the Celebrate Our Artisans event September 10-15. Late in September guests can visit Sauder Village for the always-popular Apple Butter Making event, September 25-28.

The Sauder Village mission is to provide guests with experiences rich in history, hospitality, creativity, and fun. Since opening in 1976, Sauder Village has grown to a 235-acre complex with more than 450 employees and 400 adult and 200 youth volunteers. As Ohio’s largest living history destination, Sauder Village includes the award winning Historic Village, the 98-room Sauder Heritage Inn, a 48-site campground, the 350-seat Barn Restaurant, the Doughbox Bakery, and banquet seating for 750 in Founders Hall. The Historic Village preserves more than 75 historic structures and nearly 50,000 artifacts where history is brought to life through stories, demonstrations, and programs. Proceeds from the retail and hospitality areas, along with admissions, memberships, and donations, contribute to the financial support for this 501(c)(3) organization.

Historic Sauder Village is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and each Sunday afternoon from noon-4:00 p.m. The Historic Village is closed on Mondays, except holidays. Admission is $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for students ages 6-16. Children 5 and under are always free with family and Sauder Village members receive free admission to the Historic Village for an entire year. Senior, Military and AAA discounts are also available. And again this year, children 16 and under are free every Sunday this season!
