(June 5th and 6th, 2015) – COLUMBUS: With three athletes taking part in the State track meet, the boys of Wauseon were prepared to make their mark against elite competition.
Quintin Reiser, a senior for the Indians, raced in the one mile run for Wauseon. He took home sixth place in the event. With a time of 4:19.82, he came within 12 seconds of winning runner Ryan Adams, of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, whose time of 4:07.12 set a new meet record in the event.
First year Indian track athlete Austin Bachman completed his successful run in the high jump by making it to State. At the meet itself, he cleared a height of 6’00” to take fifteenth place. The winning jump in the event was an incredible 6’10” jump by Jeffery Floyd, representing Linden McKinnley.
Noah Caslte, another senior, who qualified in both the shot put and the discus, had a respectable showing in both events. His toss of 51’02.5” in the shot was good enough to earn him twelfth place in the competition. In the discus, he managed tenth place with a throw of 153′ 00”. While that is certainly a strong finish, the fact that he broke the 180′ mark in the event last week at Regionals shows that he had the potential to finish as high as second place, where Napoleon’s Sam Meece tossed the disc 174’07”.
As a team, Wauseon scored 3 point, putting htem in fifty-fourth place against a field of seventy-three teams.
