(PRESS RELEASE) Since 2019, the Village of Edgerton Electric Department has worked with Asplundh Tree Expert LLC for electric system Line Clearance, Tree Pruning and Tree Removal Services under the contract held between local public power utilities and Asplundh Tree Expert LLC.
The Edgerton Street Department and Edgerton Utilities will work jointly with Asplundh Tree Expert LLC to begin trimming select vegetation along the Village of Edgerton rights-of-way and utility easements beginning next week- August 28, 2023, and lasting roughly 3 weeks.
An effective line clearance and vegetation management program is critical to ensure electric service reliability.
Limbs directly contacting overhead conductors, blowing into lines during windy conditions, drooping into feeders when icy and providing pathways for squirrels all negatively impact electric service reliability.
While we understand and appreciate the passion surrounding trees across the Village of Edgerton, safety remains our top priority.
Trees that have grown too close to overhead power lines are not only a safety hazard but also represent a significant reason for outages on our system.
Routine safeguarding of overhead facilities is critical to ensure a safe, resilient, and reliable electric system that keeps the lights on for all of our customers.
The service provider will furnish labor, supervision, tools, vehicles, fuel, equipment, parts, supplies, materials, and expertise necessary to perform line clearance, tree trimming and removal in an expeditious, complete, and workmanlike manner in compliance with national (ANSI) standards. Line clearance and vegetation management work has begun and will continue until the overhead electric distribution system is cleared.
If residents have any questions on the scheduled work, tree trimming and removal, etc. contact the Village Administrator.
The village calls on all drivers to “share these work zones safely” by staying alert, obeying traffic signs and allowing all vehicles extra space while driving through active work zones this fall.
The men and women who work on and along our roadways put their lives on the line each and every day to ensure our utilities and roads are in the best condition possible.
All they ask in return is for motorists to pay attention to them, move over, and slow down.
