MONTPELIER: In their final game of an eight team tournament held on their own fields, the Montpelier 11U Baseball squad did battle with their counterparts from Wauseon in the event’s Consolation game. Taking the lead early in the contest, the Indian boys never relinquished control, claiming the victory.
Wauseon bested Montpelier 3-1.

After holding the Locos scoreless to start the game, Wauseon stepped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. They would add another run in the second. Montpelier produced their lone run in the top of the fourth inning, when Landon Brigle drove in David Bowman on a single.

Assuming the victory for Wauseon was Cameron Cantu, who pitched 3 innings in the win. Throwing a no-hitter in that span, Cantu struck out 6 Montpelier batters while walking 5 more.

Taking the loss was Montpelier’s Dylan Bass, who lasted 3 innings on the mound as well. He allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits. Bass also accumulated 5 strikeouts while giving up just 1 walk.

For the Wauseon bats, Cooper Lane led the way with a 2 RBI double. Maddux Chamberlain, Jaxon Radabaugh, and Banister all hit singles.

Jaren Viers, Bowman, Bass, and Brigle all hit for singles on behalf of the Locomotives, with the latter earning an RBI for his efforts. Aidan Higbie earned a double.
