At the July 13 meeting, the Wauseon Board of Education ratified a three-year agreement with the Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE) Local #533.
Highlights of the new agreement include removing the spring jacket incentive, increasing the longevity payment in year 20 and 25 and adding an additional longevity step at year 31. The new agreement also removes some of the personal leave restrictions, added a new category of leave for funerals and increased DAR annual services payment from $1750 to $2000. In addition, new language similar to the Wauseon Education Association’s agreement for retire-rehire was added to the agreement.
In other business the board:
•Approved a $25,000 advance to the Uniform School Supply Fund from the General Fund.
•Accepted donations from the Wauseon Rotary, the National FFA Foundation, Miller Bros Construction and Tomahawk Wrestling Club.
•Approved the fiscal year 2016 Student Activity budgets.
•Authorized “then and now certificates” to Control Products, Teresa Westfall, Laura Leininger and OK Electric.
•Approved the placement of Kelly Finney from a WES Intervention Specialist to a WPS Intervention Specialist
•Accepted the resignations of Jason Lozer as the WHS Assistant Band Director, effective June 26, 2015, Amanda Dandino Wayton as a WHS Intervention Specialist and as the Assistant Fall Play Director, effective July 1, 2015 and Anastasha Brown as the Girls Head Tennis Coach for the 2015-16 school year, effective July 10, 2015.
•Offered a one-year limited certificated teaching contract to Amanda Aniolowski as the WHS Assistant Band Director and to James Devine as a WES Intervention Specialist, a one-year limited non-athletic supplemental contract to Jason Robinson as the Assistant Fall Play Director and a one-year limited athletic supplemental contract to Mike Colon as the Head Girls Track Coach.
• Approved Jaime Rupp as a long term substitute teacher for Nichole Aeschliman’s parental leave.
•Approved Dave Sauber as a Volunteer 7th Grade Football.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 10 at 5:30 PM at the board office.
