The Lady Indians of Wauseon were unable to defend their home court against the Bryan Golden Bears at their season opening August 13 match.
Three single’s matches were held at the event, with Bryan winning all each one in straight sets. Wauseon’s Autumn Dominique gave a valiant effort against Mikayla Borland of Bryan, losing her sets 3-6, 5-7. In the other singles matches, both Michelle Whitman and Kaitlyn Sager for the Lady Indians dropped their sets 0-6 consecutively against Trista Savage and Morgan Bauer respectively.
Two dual matches also took place. Again, the Lady Golden Bears took both matches. Wauseon’s combination of Cherese Bussing and Cassidy Barns, both returning letterman for the Indians, fought hard against Bryan’s offering of Kendra Wheeler and Elizabeth Hoene, but came up short 2-6, 4-6. Sarah Becker and Sammi Martin teamed up for Wauseon as well, though their opponents A.J. Breneman and Mariah Stambaugh proved to be too much to handle, as the Lady Indians again fell in straight 0-6 sets.
