At the afternoon Wauseon School Board meeting held at 1:00 on April 9, 2021, the Board approved the minutes of the previous meeting, the bills and financial reports as presented, before hearing some academic reports.
Elementary Principal Mrs. Theresa Vietmeier and 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Hope Wood gave a detailed report about Leveled Literacy Intervention. The Middle School After School Program was presented by MS Principal Joe Friess, Mrs. Stacy Beaverson who is the 8th Grade Language Arts teacher and the After School Program Administrator, Mrs. Amy Kreiner MS Intervention Specialist and After School Prgram Administrator, plus 8th grade students Skyler William and Katie Smith.
The board accepted with gratitude the following donations: $617.00 from Hannah Dymarkowski for WES Food Pantry; $72.00 from Wauseon Rotary Club to Wauseon Speech Team; $250.85 from Wauseon Athletic Boosters to WHS for NWOAL Wrestling Plaques; 11 pallets of bottled water from JLST Interstate Trucking to WEVS; $120.00 from Harlen and Luann Goertzen to WES Food Pantry; Boxes of treats for WES Students from Knights of Columbus to WES Food Pantry.
The following personnel items were approved:
-Rachel Wixey and Associates Substitute List as presented
-Offered a one-year limited certificated contract to Brodie Nofziger as a WHS Social Studies Teacher at Step 2, Column 1 on the approved salary schedule for the 2021-2022 school year pending receipt of both a clean BCI/FBI background check. Failure to provide both a clean BCI/FBI background check will result in this offer being withdrawn
-Resignation of Mallorie Hannon as a WES Teacher Aide, effective with the end of the 2020-2021 school year
-Transfer of Sarah Leslie from a WHS Teacher Aide to a WES Teacher Aide, effective with the 2021-2022 school year
-Resignation of Hannah Miedema as a 2/5 Speech Language Pathologist, effective with the close of the contracted 2020-2021 school year
-Resignation of Jean LaFountain as a WHS Sweeper, effective June 1, 2021

-Jack Leatherman as an Athletic Department Student Worker for the 2020-2021 school year
-Specific NEOLA bylaw policies additions and revisions for a second reading

-Resolution expressing commitment to the Northwest Ohio Athletic League NWOAL (for at least the next four years so long as it exists)
-Resolution Selecting Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc. as architect and authorizing negotiation of an agreement for services (for work on the Roofing Project)
After the passage of all these items, the Board entered into Executive session for the consideration of the compensation of a school official, with no action taken. The meeting then adjourned.
The next BOE meeting is a Special Meeting and will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the BOE office.
