The West Unity United Methodist Church, in friendship with the West Unity Ministerial Association, is holding a winter coat charity for those in need every Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church, located at 311 North Liberty Street in West Unity.

The program this year received a tremendous boost when the Grace Community Church in Bryan donated 25 bags full of coats for distribution to those in need. This year marks the 5th anniversary of the program.

According to Jane Short, program coordinator, anyone in need of a winter coat may visit the church every Wednesday between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. and shop for a coat that meets their needs. Coats available for giveaway include men’s and women’s adult sizes, as well as children’s coats. Those unable to visit during the Wednesday hours may contact the church at 419-924-2161 and make arrangements during off hours to select a coat.

Those interested in making a winter coat donation may stop by the church or make contact with Jane and arrange to drop off donated items. There is a special need this year for children’s and men’s coats.
