William A. “Bill” Steinem, 88, of W. Main St., Fayette, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Heartland of Wauseon. He was born June 25, 1924, in Toledo, OH, to the late Edgar and Ruth (Acker) Steinem.
Bill, a life-long Fayette area resident, was a graduate of Gorham Fayette High School and Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH. He was a member of the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples, the Fayette Lions Club, Fulton County Democratic Party, and the Fayette Historical Society. Bill was also a generous monetary contributor to several other area organizations.
Bill was a man of great intelligence who liked to read and keep abreast of national and world affairs, and had a passion for the conservation of the environment.
Surviving Bill are several cousins.
A funeral service for Bill Steinem will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette, with Rev. Gene Sugg officiating. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service and interment of his cremated remains will take place in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette with a committal service on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. A visitation will be held on Wednesday afternoon, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
