Arlene Pennington (1938-2018)

Arlene H. Pennington, age 80, of rural Fayette, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018, at Flower Hospital in Toledo. 

Arlene was born in Wyandot, Michigan, on January 11, 1938, the daughter of Carlton and Helen (Damman) Mahnke. On November 24, 1956, she married Loren E. Pennington, and he preceded her in death in 2017.

She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Wauseon, where she had played piano for services. She enjoyed sewing  graduation t-shirt quilts for her grandchildren, quilts for the Seminary and Veteran’s Home, wedding and bridesmaid dresses, and crocheting baby afghans for her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending sporting and music events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Fulton County Pork Producers, and for over 30 she and her husband, Loren, had managed the Pork Stand at the Fulton County Fair.

Surviving are her children, Gary (Luann) Pennington of Fayette, Cindy (David) Pinkelman of Delta, Pam (Gary) Wilson of Swanton, Linda (Tim) Good of Swanton and Joe (Ellen) Pennington of New Bavaria, Ohio. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and an infant brother.

Visitation for Arlene will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 2, 2018, at Emmaus Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, also at the church, with Pastor Steven R. Geske, officiating. Interment will be in the Wauseon Union Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Emmaus Lutheran Church, Fulton County Relay for Life, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com.

Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
