Marcella E. Bayliss, 88, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at Brookview Healthcare Center in Defiance.
She was born on July 25, 1930, to the late Paul and Velma (Sprow) Hosler in Defiance County, Ohio. She was married to Don L. Bayliss, who preceded her in death in 1996.
Marcella was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She worked as a cashier at Vagabond Restaurant, was co-owner with her husband at Don’s Variety Store in Sherwood and was a personnel director at Murphy Mart in Bryan, Ohio. In her leisure time she enjoyed crafts and making dolls.
Marcella will be sadly missed by her sons, Greg (Robin) Bayliss of Troy, Ohio, and Bruce (Terri) Bayliss of Bryan; daughter, Gina Bayliss of Sherwood, Ohio; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Don L. Bayliss, and brother, Lowell Hosler.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7 at Schaffer Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Schlicher officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
