Charles H. Tanier, age 78, of Delta, passed away unexpectedly Monday night, March 9, 2020 at the University of Toledo Medical Center.
He was born in Wauseon on October 12, 1941 to the late Earl Tanier and Marie (Ross) Vinecourt and step-father, Ralph Vinecourt. Charles attended Liberty Center High School and later graduated from Delta High School.
At an early age he worked as a plasterer; then for over 25 years he served as a carpenter with OCP Contractors, before retiring. Charles enjoyed bowling, golfing and spending time camping at Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon; where he enjoyed his Bud Light and cruising on his golf cart.
He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians Fan. Memberships included the Delta Eagles, and Wauseon VFW and American Legion. On August 24, 1989 he married Trula Hayes and she survives.
Charles is also survived by his children, Scott (Debra) Tanier of Wauseon, Peggy (Don) Wood of Wauseon and Dawn (David) Cook of Republic, OH; step-daughters, Debbie (Allan) Benien of Napoleon and Susan (Lewis) Miller of Liberty Center; sisters, Charlotte (William ) Osterhout of Delta and Darlene (Tanier) Bryant of Van Wert; grandchildren, Lucas and Dustin Tanier, Jennifer (Mark) Tester, Joshua (Hope) Wood, Jared (Lauren) Wood and Landon and Taylor Cook; 7 step-grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many step-great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Barnes Funeral Chapel,5825 St. Rt. 109 in Delta; where a funeral service celebrating Charles’ life will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2020 also at the funeral home. Private interment will be at a later date at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center.
