Norman Creek (1933-2020)

Norman L. Creek, 86 years, formerly of Montpelier, Ohio passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home, Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born December 8, 1933, the son of the late Andrew S. and Dorothy S. (Smith) Creek.

He was a 1952 graduate of Millcreek Local High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from May 14, 1956 to April 10, 1958. Norman served as an auxiliary police officer in Fayette, Ohio from 1958 to 1970.

He married Barbara J. Smith on June 4, 1955 in Fayette, Ohio and she preceded him in death on June 3, 2018. Norman worked at Sauder Woodworking as an industrial lift operator from 1981 until his retirement in 1999. After retirement, he worked as a park manager at Walden Woods, Orland, Indiana.

Norman was an ordained minister of the Nazarene Church and a member of the National Rifle Association. Norman enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing or camping, collecting coins and traveling. He especially cherished his time spent with his family.


Surviving are his four children, Keven (Denise) Creek of Orlando, Florida, Roxanna Draggoo of Fremont, Indiana, Lonnie (Cindy) Creek of Montpelier, Ohio and Renee (Tracy) Egolf of Larwill, Indiana; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; two brothers, George Creek and Tommy Creek.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, private interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. A Memorial Service for Norman will be held at a later date after the pandemic ends. Services are in the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity, Ohio.
