Corwin Lyle Starr, age 83 of Napoleon, and formerly of Delta, passed to eternal life from complications of Parkinson’s Disease on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at his home in Napoleon surrounded by his loving family. Corwin was born in Bryan, Ohio on March 26, 1937 to the late Byron & Mildred (Kelly) Starr.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Bean on June 20, 1959. Corwin spent his school years in Evansville, Indiana and came to Toledo in 1956 to work for J.C. Penney as a sales manager, retiring after 32 years. In retirement, Corwin and Shirley enjoyed spending over 20 years on the Cumberland Plateau near Crossville, Tennessee.
They also took multiple train trips through the Western United States. He was a 21-year cancer survivor. He was a faithful member of numerous local churches throughout his life and was presently attending Peace Reformed Church in Napoleon, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Bean Starr and children Victor (Lou) Starr; Sharon (Mark) Likos and Keith (Becky) Starr. He and his wife were blessed with seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Breonne Starr.
Corwin was affectionately known as “Gramper” to the grandchildren. He loved playing tennis, swimming, fishing and being active outdoors with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public visitation or services and burial will be private for the family at Wauseon Union Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.
