Joyce L. Fruchey, age 73, of Fayette, passed away early Saturday morning, August 8, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee.  She was born in Morenci on April 22, 1947 to Melvin “Babe” and Pauline (Bacon) Jones.

Joyce attended and graduated from Gorham-Fayette High School; and then married James Fruchey in Fayette on September 11, 1965, and he survives.

She worked for over 25 years at her father’s business, Quality Tube in Fayette, as a bookkeeper and other clerical duties. Joyce is a past member of the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department Fire Belles, was District Coordinator for Youths For Understanding, and was involved in the Fayette Athletic Boosters.

In her free time, she enjoyed watching television – especially Judge Judy and Dr. Phil, loved to read V. C. Andrews books, and loved all animals – including feeding the birds, dogs, and had a pet Wallaby.

Surviving besides her husband, James, are sons, Brian (Lesley) and Corey (Melanie) Fruchey; grandchildren, Hailey, Mackenzie (Jake McVay), Alexis, Kelsey, and Trista Fruchey, and Tyler (Mariah) and Katelyn Downing; great-grandchildren, Tate and Asa Downing; and brother, Jim (Sandy) Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Public visitation for Joyce will take place on Friday, August 14, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Fayette. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and social distancing regulations, only a limited number of individuals will be allowed in the funeral home and masks are required. Private funeral services will follow visitation, with a public burial after at Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. Pastor Jeff Bandy with Fayette United Methodist Church will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Joyce’s memory may be made to the Gorham-Fayette Fire Department or the Family Life Center of Fayette United Methodist Church. Online condolences to the family may be offered at www.eaglemarryfuneralhome.com.

My sympathy to all of you at this difficult time. I loved waiting on Joyce at the Doughbox. She always ordered holiday pies!!! She was the sweetest lady. I also enjoyed waiting on and visiting with her mother Pauline before she passed. I retired from the Doughbox 5 years ago but have fond memories of my special customers. May you feel God’s comfort and peace through the days and weeks ahead. Love, Pat (Short) Nafziger, past manager at the Doughbox
