WEST UNITY: April 25 – The Montpelier Lady Locos took the championship of the 2014 Hilltop Junior High Relays on April 25.

Despite the fact that no individual or team results for the event were received, Montpelier Coach Jason Johnston offered an overview of the events from the Locomotives’ perspective. “The Montpelier girls were victorious in the 8th annual Hilltop Junior High Relays pulling away by 23 points,” he said. “The girls displayed great depth winning, 6 of the 13 events while placing second in 4 others, all while missing some key athletes from their team.”

“Taking first place honors were the dynamic duo of Kennedy Lamberson and Peyton Houk in both the shot put (55’ 7 ½”) and discus (107’ 10”) relays; the high jump team of Rebekah Carr and Marley Sanders (8’ 4”), and the shuttle hurdles relay team of Rebekah Carr, Ashley Tingley, Chelsea Graham, and Lauren Cooley (1:21.6).” Coach Johnston continued the list of first place finishes, with, “…the 4X200 relay team of Tiarra Tibbetts, Destiny Oliphant, Joy Scholma, and Jaelyn Lyons (2:12.7), and the 4X100 relay team of Tiarra Tibbetts, Ashley Tingley, Chelsea Graham, Jaelyn Lyons (59.2).”
