Tom's Fireworks - Pretty Darn Cool - Auburn, Indiana - 260-570-8607 - 10% off Military, Police, Fire and First Responders

STRYKER: May 17 – The Pettisville Blackbirds maintained their grip on the gold May 17, holding off the Edon Bombers to win their third consecutive BBC Track and Field Championship.

Although much can be said about the fact that only Pettisville and Edon were able to field full teams, no one can deny that those two teams are also stacked to the teeth with postseason experience…especially the Battling ‘Birds. Pettisville took first place over the Boys in Bomber Blue by a 179-157 score, with North Central finishing a distant third with 66 points. Fayette took fourth with 57 points, and Hilltop edged out Stryker for fifth place, 34-30.

Pettisville won three of the four relay events, with Edon taking the 4×200. The distance events once again fell the way of the Blackbirds as Kyle Lantz won the 800 and the 1600, with Dominic Frey pacing the 3200 and placing second behind Lantz in the 1600.

Will McKinney of Hilltop took the pole vault with a postseason-ready flight of 12 feet, and Michael Peeples of Edon was a double winner in the long jump and the 110 hurdles. He was two inches off the pace of Pettisville’s Austin Dykstra for the win in the high jump. Brady Cogswell gained the only other first place finish not won by either Pettisville or Edon, as he brought the discus championship home to North Central.

The following finishes were posted by event…

1 Pettisville – 179

2 Edon – 157

3 North Central – 66

4 Fayette – 57

5 Hilltop – 34

6 Stryker – 30
