The Regular Meeting of the Fayette Local School District was held on May 17, 2021 at 6:30 pm. President Mr. Terry Kovar called the meeting to order with the following members present: Mat Johnson, Kirk Keiser, Ryan Eberly and Jason Kessler.
Also present were Angela Belcher Superintendent, Kelly Bentley Treasurer, Jon Molter High School Principal, Allie Reucher Elementary Principal, Becky Short Technology Coordinator and Justine Coffman.
The Board approved the minutes of the April 19, 2021 meeting and with no public participation, began the reports and updates.
Superintendent Belcher began by saying they were excited to be holding a normal high school graduation for students and parents to attend.
She also reported that they are working on ESSER III grant funding and will be starting interviews for the Elementary Principal position.
Bentley, in her treasurer’s report, informed the Board that the FY21 School District Income Tax collection remained stable with previous years’ collections, despite the COVIDpredication of losing 10 % throughout the State.
“Our seniors attended a program on Real Money Real World and participated in a first aid training,” Mr. Molter said.
They will be holding summer school June 7-18th. Student Council Relay for Life event will take place on May 21 with the Theme this year being Disney. The last day of school for students will be May 28.
Ms. Reucher shared that the sixth grade got to go for Outdoor Education at Harrison Lake on May 13-14, and had a good time as it is a favorite time for the students.
This was Mr. Stoltzfus’ last Outdoor Education since he is retiring. “He was very instrumental to the learning and will be missed,” she said.
Elementary will host a field day at the track on May 26 and the Elementary Band concert will be May 19.
The Board voted to approve the Financial report which included the report for April, the updated 5 year forecast, and three donations – $110 from Premier Bank to purchase mini wallet diplomas for 2021 Graduates, $500 from Hause Machines/Rob Brubaker for the design and construction of the archway sign to the athletic fields, and 755 disposable masks from Fayette Circle K for student use.
Also approved at the meeting were:
-Summer school for students on June 7-18 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
-List of Seniors for 2021 graduation, pending completion of all requirements
-Extended time beyond the contract year for 21-22 fiscal year for a few staff members
-Certified employee contracts
-Non-certified contracts
-Resignations of Allie Reucher as Elementary Principal effective July 31, 2021; Irene Fether as Assistant to the Treasurer effective August 31, 2021; and Michelle Becker as part time custodian effective June 30, 2021
-One-year contract with Kori Sliwinski as Assistant to Treasurer beginning July 1, 2021
-Justine Coffman as 5/6 Grade teacher for Math and Science for FY2022
-Barbara Bruggeman as a sub for FY 21 beginning April 30, 2021
-Aaron Hylander for summer school instructor
-Joel Smith as sub van driver for FY21
-One-year supplemental contracts for coaches
-Rodney Kessler as Boys Varsity Basketball volunteer for FY22
-Jason Ohlemacher as basketball administrative assistant volunteer for FY22

In Agreements and Policies, the board approved: Hylant Group to provide Property insurance coverage through Ohio School Plan in the amount of $24,244 beginning July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022; Membership with Ohio High School Athletic Association for 2021-2022; Membership with NBEC/NWOCA for FY 2022; Memorandum of Understanding with Defiance College for the hosting of teacher education candidates for July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022; and A two-year continuation Clinical Affiliation Agreement with Northwest State Community College for Early Childhood/Paraprofessional Education Program beginning July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023. Board members reviewed the Normal Memorial Library Financial Budget 2021 report and with no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for June 28, 2021.
