(September 11th, 2014)-EDON: In BBC league play, The Lady Bombers of Edon hosted The Hilltop Lady Cadets. Going on the road is always an uphill battle, and Hilltop’s trip to Edon was no exception.
The Lady Cadets started the series flat, dropping the first set 13-25. Despite finding a rhythm in game 2, the Hilltop girls still lost the game 20-25. The Bombers rode that momentum into game 3, taking down the Cadets 25-12.
For Edon, Nicole Newell had 9 kills, 7 digs, and an ace. Teammate Alex Kiess made an impressive 17 assists in the match, also adding 3 kills and 2 digs. Kaitlyn Sonneberger contributed 6 kills and 3 aces to the victory effort.
Lady Cadet Ariana Brown patrolled the net, making 5 blocks and 3 kills. Felicity Jackson handed out 9 assists, along with 2 digs, 1 kill, and 1 block for Hilltop. Fellow Cadet Allie Schmitt refused to let the ball touch the ground, making 17 digs in addition to her 2 kills in the losing effort.
