On December 15th, 2021 at 4:20 p.m., the Montpelier Police Department received a call regarding two females running on the SR 576 (S. Platt St.) bridge.

While responding they were given information that one of the females had possibly jumped from the bridge to the railroad tracks.

Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year old female near the tracks. Officers began medical support until the Williams County EMS arrived along with the Montpelier Fire Department.

Medics treated the subject who was then transported to the Montpelier Hospital before being transported by Lifeflight.

No further information is available on the patient’s medical condition at this time.

“It is the Montpelier Police Department’s hope that we as a community can assemble in prayer for the victim, versus using speculation and social media to propagate misinformation or vindicative chatter”, said Montpelier Police Chief Dan McGee in a press release this morning.

“Please allow the family and friends of the victim to feel supported and encourage the victim (and all of those who may be feeling lost) to believe help is available, understand you are not alone, and that hope is the beacon to better days.”

“We encourage anyone dealing with depression or needing to talk contact your local churches or licensed counselors”, McGee added.
