$50,000 AND CLIMBING … This large sign next to the town clock in Edon, Ohio is set up at the street light intersection for all to see the progress being made for their playground fundraiser.

Walz Park has been a part of the village of Edon, Ohio for at least fifty years and is experiencing a major upgrade to the already enjoyable area.
In stages the village is doing some extensive work to update the park. They have recently renovated the restrooms near the concession stands, added a Frisbee Golf Course, and resurfaced the Basketball Courts.
A large sign in downtown Edon shows the progress of the Fundraiser to pay for all these changes. As of the beginning of December 2021 the red “road” that is driving up the sign says that they have already raised almost $50,000.
The next stage is to raise the money for the playground equipment and to make the playground handicap friendly, which includes an ADA compatible swing, and more accessible.
The Edon Area Foundation and Dimension Hardwood Veneers, Inc. of Edon have already given some “seed money”. As there is a need to raise a total of $150,000 the village has come up with a Brick Sale Fundraiser. There are different options that allow people and businesses to participate within their budget.
The bricks will be engraved by Fackler Monument and will be used to build a low wall near the playground. Best Insurance has already made the first purchase, choosing to buy an 8×8 offer.
How to participate – Pick up a Brick Purchase Form from the State Bank, Edon Village Office or Post Office. Fill it out and return it to the Village Office.
If you do not want to buy bricks but would like to help, you can make a donation at the State Bank for any amount you choose. Businesses and families are welcome to challenge others and make it even more fun this Christmas season.
The village enlisted the services of Randy Edwards from many years on the Good Morning Show on WLZZ, to make a video to post on YouTube to alert the community of this fundraiser. Edwards explained the process and invited residents to participate.
Options for donors include a 4×8 Brick order for $100 which will cover 3 lines/13 spaces on the pathway or a $500 donation which is an 8×8 brick order covering 7 lines/13 spaces in the brick wall.
Donations are tax deductible with a receipt as needed. Checks are to be made out to Village of Edon – Parks, and dropped off at the Village Office with the completed form.
