The Metamora Village Council held their meeting on Monday July 18th, 2022. The meeting began at 8:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Visitors were then introduced with Gabriel Schwab attending from Troop 167 to work on a requirement for his merit badge.
John Schwab from pack 239 then gave information on their annual cub kart event, which is scheduled for September 17th, with a rain date of September 24th.
The event will be held on Swanton Street with set up starting at 9:00 a.m. Racing starts around noon, and everything is usually done by 4:00 p.m. Neighbors in the area will be contacted and the village will provide a road closed sign.
Council then moved to approve the minutes for the July 6th meeting as presented as well as the list of bills as read. In personnel and finance, council approved the following items.
An increase of $2,000 for the Sam’s Credit Card fuel account. An increase of $1,000 for the Lowe’s Credit Card expense line. An increase of $9,090 for the expense line to purchase a new pump and seal leakage monitor.
Council next moved to donate $75.00 to the music boosters on behalf of Michele Herr and another $75.00 to the fire department on behalf of Jeff Simon.
A motion to purchase an aluminum boat with a trailer from Todd Woodring for $100 was approved next. It was explained that some oars will need to be purchased as well but that this will be useful at the lagoons and potentially at the reservoir if needed.
Moving to the lands and buildings report, a resident who does not have a second water meter has asked for a sewer credit regarding the filling of their pool.
Without a second meter the issue would amount to a guess. The issue will be looked at further and discussed at the next meeting.
Moving to old business, the chicken BBQ that was scheduled for August 6th has been cancelled. Council will begin discussing the planning of a chicken BBQ and memorial dedication ceremony for next year. Nothing will be taking place this year.
CT Consultants will begin smoke testing on Monday, July 25th. The testing should only take the two days of the 25th and 26th. All businesses and residents have been sent letters regarding this.
In the fiscal officer’s report, it was stated that Worthington Industries does a community project which consists of a small team of employees who provide 6 hours of manpower in 1 day for projects in town.
Metamora will be added to their list of possible areas they are willing to help in the future. The county will be sending out letters in regard to the village water. Some valves were not releasing properly resulting in the water being out of range by .001.
The EPA legally requires everyone to know this. There was not a boil advisory issued for this.
In the mayor’s report, the Sheriff’s report for June 2022 was given. It was then stated that the mayor will be out of town for the September 7th council meeting and maybe the 19th’s as well. Karen Lane agreed to run the meetings in his absence.
With no further business to attend to, the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
