David A. VanArsdalen, 59, of Alvordton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, in his residence. David was born June 26, 1963, in Montpelier, Ohio, son of DeWayne L. “Dewey” and Myrtle L. (Pinette) VanArsdalen.

After graduating from Bryan High School, he enlisted with the United States Army. David worked at General Aluminum in Fremont, Indiana, for over 30 years.

He was a former member of the Alvordton United Methodist Church. David will be remembered for being a jokester, and for the love he had for his family.

Regularly, David would load up his sister’s van with several of his nieces and nephews, and take them roller skating, bowling or to the movies.


He will also be remembered for his love of the Ohio lottery, giving scratch-off tickets to family members for their birthdays, and during the holidays.

David is survived by his mother, Myrtle L. VanArsdalen of West Unity, Ohio; three sisters, Debra (Mike) Hand of West Unity, Ohio, Robyn Henry of West Unity, Ohio, and Deana (Tony Hand) VanArsdalen of Fayette, Ohio; one brother, Bruce (Rhonda) VanArsdalen of West Unity, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and even a few great-great-nieces and grerat-great-nephews.

David was preceded in death by his father, DeWayne L. “Dewey” VanArsdalen; and a brother-in-law, Tom Henry.


Visitation for David A. VanArsdalen will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity, Ohio 43570.  A Celebration of Life will follow in the funeral home starting at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Nick Woodall officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Dewey VanArsdalen Memorial Trust, PO Box 605, West Unity, Ohio 43570.
