(December 13th, 2014) – FAYETTE: In a crazy game that saw 10 lead changes, the hometown Eagles of Fayette fell to the visiting Archers of Antwerp, 41-39.

The Eagles established a solid lead in the first two quarters of play. By the conclusion of the first period, they were up 13-8. Fayette was able to add a point to the lead with a 10-9 scoring advantage in the second quarter. In the third stanza, Antwerp ended the quarter with 3 points chipped off of the Fayette lead. The Archers then overcame their deficit entirely with an 11-6 final period.

Wade Burkholder provided the Eagles with 14 points, making 4 three-point field goals. Alec Bost filled a variety of roles in the game, scoring 6 points on 2 three-pointers, while making 5 assists, stealing the ball twice, and even blocking a shot. Tristen Bates also produced 6 points, also making a steal.

Fayette did a terrific job of taking care of the basketball. They had but 6 turnovers for the entire game. Such precision usually amounts to a victory.

The team also shot 47% from the floor, though they only made a third of their free throws. Also, they only took 6 attempts at extra points in the contest.

Fayette and Antwerp were two evenly matched teams, and this game could have gone either way. It just happened to go in the Archers’ favor.
