The North Central Board of Education held a special meeting on December 7th. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

The board first moved to approve the minutes from the November 15th regular meeting before moving on to hear a report by the Superintendent.

The only item the Superintendent discussed was in regard to Mort, the new facility dog.

The dog was requested around four years ago, and a call was finally received for it. The school is going through the Ability Center in Sylvania.

The dog will be utilized district wide, and he will attend extra-curricular events at times as well.

“There will be definite mental health advantages as well as academic advantages to having a facility do like Mort,” according to the Superintendents report.

The dog’s primary handler will be Becky Renfer and the secondary handler will be Andy Morr.

The dog will be owned by the school district but will be kept with Becky at night as the primary handler.

“This is a great opportunity for the North Central School District!”

The board then moved to enter executive session at 4:19 p.m. for a personnel issue. Upon their return at 6:27 p.m. the meeting was adjourned.
