O. Roger Taylor (1930 – 2015)

Taylor O Roger WEBO. Roger Taylor, 84 of Archbold, died Saturday evening, February 7, 2015, at Fairlawn Care Center in Archbold, with his family by his side. He was born December 28, 1930, in Archbold, the son of Gladys (Lauber) and Orrin R. Taylor. He married Nancy A. Crossgrove on June 7, 1952. Roger was a graduate of Archbold High School and Miami University. Upon graduation he served in the U.S. Army stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. After his discharge in 1955, he returned to Archbold where he worked for the family weekly newspaper, the Archbold Buckeye. In 1966 he purchased the Farmland News and was publisher until his retirement in 2001.
He was a member of the Archbold United Methodist Church, Archbold Lion’s Club, founding President of the Archbold Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion. He served as a German Township Clerk for 19 years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Lynn Taylor, Valley Center, California; Laura (Scott) Beck, Potomac, Maryland and Lisa (Jed) Grisez, Archbold; six grandchildren: Emily (Eric) Pollitz, William Beck, Anne Grisez, Allison Beck, Allegra Raiger and Phelan Raiger. He also is survived by one brother, Ross (Sharon) Taylor, Archbold. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marilyn (Harold) Smith and Madalyn (William) Stanforth.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 15 at 2 p.m. at the Archbold United Methodist Church with the Rev. David David officiating and Eric Pollitz assisting, with visitation from noon until the service at 2 p.m. at the church. The family suggests that memorials be given to the Archbold United Methodist Church, Fairlawn Care Center and the Archbold Area Foundation.
