STRYKER SCHOOL BOARD: School Dog “Jet” To Be Officially Introduced To Public

Dean of Students Beth Morr shared with the Stryker School Board, at their February 13, 2023 meeting, that “Jet” will be introduced to the public at the basketball game on February 17.

She said he had been there before and seemed to be fine so she was hoping he would be fine when they took him out onto the court for his introduction. Also at that game, PBIS Awards will be given out. Morr also reported:


-February 20: No School

-February 21: Academic Assist begins for Elementary students. Last year almost 60 students participated in this after school program.

-February 21: Muffins with Moms


-February 28: Donuts with Dads

-March 3: Karuna House

-March 10: End of third 9 weeks

-March 13-17: Spring Break


Principal Dave Schultz congratulated Mrs. Taylor and her government class, who were 90% proficient in AIR Test results. He also reported:

-February 19: All County Band/Choir Show at 2:00 at North Central.

-February 20: No School

-February 28: Stryker will host the County JH Quiz Bowl at 5:30.

-February 28: ACT Test date for All Juniors.

-March 2: Blood Drive from 8:30-12:30 in the “57 Gym”. Anyone wanting to give blood needs to register online.

-March : Karuna House quarterly visit

-March 8: Spring Sports Pictures at 3:30

-March 9: National Honor Society induction at 7 p.m. in Auditorium.

-March 10: End of 3rd nine weeks

-March 13-17: Spring Break

-Congratulations to Tyler for boys basketball team winning the BBC. He added, “it was also good to see the girls win.”

Treasurer/CFO financial reports and recommendations were approved, which included:

-General fund cash balance of $8,666,623.41; total revenue $539,557.74; and total expenses $560,301.72.

-Accept donations from Brothers in Blue Ohio Chapter in the amount of $1500 to Stryker Athletic Fund, and $300 from Don Frank Memorial to the cafeteria fund (to pay up unpaid accounts).

-Recommended the board approve the amended certificate of estimated resources and amendment to the appropriations.

-Recommended the board approve the “Resolution accepting the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.”

Superintendent Nate Johnson was given approval for his personnel recommendation for a supplemental contract for the 22-23 school year for Josh DeGroff to be Assistant Jr. High Track coach.

Johnson said that meetings need to be scheduled for the Building and Grounds Committee and for the Foundation as well.

The next BOE meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on March 20, 2023.
