The Delta Village Council held their meeting on Monday, April 17th. The meeting began at 5:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer.
Council first moved to approve minutes from the previous meeting on April 3rd. No members of the public wished to speak, and no correspondence was presented.
A report from the village administrator was then given with a majority of the report revolving around an idea for a property on South Madison Street.
Administrator Brad Peebles put forth a plan to council that involves making land on South Madison Street a parking area for vehicles like campers, recreational vehicles, and boats. The land would have enough space to accommodate forty-five parking spaces.
The plan is to also charge somewhere around $50 to $75 a year to park on the lot which would be for more seasonal use.
This idea has come about through conversations with residents who have expressed that they would take advantage of a lot they could use to park their vehicles on.
At this point, the presentation was only an idea with the hope of gathering input from council members.
Next, a bid was discussed from Henry Bergman for street resurfacing. The estimated cost was set at $175,000 and the bid received was only for a cost of $116,000.
An idea was put forth by Mr. Peebles to take the rest of the money that was already budgeted and use it for seal coating additional streets this year.
The finance director then asked council to approve the invoices before also discussing quarterly sheets.
Police Chief Nathan Hartsock then informed council that he has received word that the new patrol car, that had been ordered some time ago, should be received sometime in May.
When it is received, all of the equipment will have to be installed in it before being put into service.
Committee reports were then heard with a discussion taking place about a previously tabled Post 94 Community Reinvestment legislation.
It has been previously tabled due to the Ohio legislature looking at making changes to the law.
Now that the revisions have been completed, the council moved to take the item off the table. This led up to the following legislative items being approved.
The first reading of Ordinance 23-01 to implement sections 3725.65 through 3735.70 of the Ohio Revised Code, establishing and describing the boundaries of community reinvestment area within the Village of Delta, designating a housing officer to administer the program, and creating a community reinvestment housing council and a tax incentive review council.
The first reading of Ordinance 23-02 accepting petitioned property for annexation filed with the Village of Delta and establishing the zoning classification for the same.
Council next moved to enter into executive session at 5:30 p.m. for personnel matters. The next Delta Village Council meeting will be held on May 1st at 5:30 p.m.
