The Bryan Board of Public Affairs began their April 18, 2023 meeting at 5 p.m. with the pledge of allegiance. Present were Chair Dick Long, Vice Chair Jim Salsbury, Annette Schreiner, Karen Ford, Tom Sprow and Mayor Carrie Schlade.
The March 21, 2023 meeting minutes were approved before the board approved the treasurer’s report as presented.
Then approved was a resolution designating the engineering assistant as the BMU Project Coordinator before upholding the hire of a new part-time power-plant employee.
A motion was made to pay the bills as presented before council entered a 5-minute recess to welcome in Bryan City Council to hold a joint meeting.
The purpose of this meeting was to approve the hire of John Lehner as the new Clerk / Treasurer for the City of Bryan.
The Interview committee illustrated Lehner’s extensive background and exceptional references to both council and the board before a unanimous decision was made to approve his hire.
Council expressed their anxiousness to meet him and welcomed both Lehner and the new power-plant employee to their ranks.
The board then upheld a motion to enter executive session with all present officials.
