William “Bill” Eschenbrenner (1933-2023)

William A. “Bill” Eschenbrenner,  age 90,  of Bryan, Ohio and formerly of McClure, Ohio, passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at Community Hospital, Bryan, Ohio.

He was born March 18, 1933 in St. Bernard, Ohio to the late Clarence Eschenbrenner and Helen Suhlman. He married Patricia Smith and she preceded him in death, Bill then married Agnete Rudolph and she preceded him in death.

He was a  Air Force veteran of the Korean War and played football on the Air Force team.  Bill was a member of the McClure VFW and the Maumee Valley Trapshooting Club in Malinta, Ohio.

He was a former Chief of Police in Stryker, Ohio and worked for Campbell Soup Company for over 30 years as an Inspector.  Bill was also a Deputy in the Williams County Mounted Posse.


He is survived, by his daughter, Elaine (Mike) Perdue,  special friend,  Marsha Baumberger, grandchildren, Chad (Jeannette) Perdue, Brandy (Monte) Breen,  Kaylene (Craig) Elliott,  8 great grandchildren, sisters, Doris Glass and Margaret Hunter, step-children,  Katrina (Ben) Carpenter,  Lucia Rudolph,  numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Step-Mother, grandson, Matt Perdue, son, Garry Eschenbrenner, and step-children, Asta (Tom) Markley and Tony Rudolph.

Friends may call for a time of visitation with the Eschenbrenner family on Thursday, April 27, 2023,  4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, Ohio. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023 at Bridging The Gap Ministry, 110 S. Defiance Street, Stryker, Ohio,  Pastor Scott Carlin officiating.  Interment will follow in Evansport Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Stryker American Legion.  Memorial contributions may be made to:  Charity of Family Preference.  www.grisierfh.com
