Norman “Norm” Richard Grine, Sr., 93, of West Unity, OH passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
Norm was surrounded by his children as God came down from heaven and took one of his precious children into his loving arms.
He was born on May 30, 1929 in Toledo, OH to Edward and Clara (Limbaugh) Grine.
Norm graduated from Millcreek West Unity High School in 1947.
On May 5, 1948 he married Thelma “Little” Montgomery in Bryan, OH and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2012.
Norm worked in the tool and die department of the Ohio Art Company in Bryan for 26 years before working at HKK in West Unity and retiring for the second time in 1992.
Norm was a member of the Montpelier Moose and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a faithful Rowe’s Recreation patron in Montpelier.
He enjoyed his family dearly and loved having fun traveling, camping, boating, waterskiing and snow moiling.
Norm is survived by five children, N. Richard (Rhonda) Grine, Jr., of Winter Haven, FL, Denis (Cheryl) Grine of West Unity, Marsha Edwards of Crawsfordville, IN, Ann (Pat) Keller of Georgetown, KY and Ed (Jean) Grine of Canyon Lake, TX; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Grine, Denise Marquart, Keith Grine, Jeff Burger, Jenny Clarke, Courtney Feerick, John Grine, Heather Mavis, Sara Hinton, Dustin Grine, Zachary Martinez and Morgan Grine; three step grandchildren Billy, Artie and Joey Edwards and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thelma Grine; significant other, Dee Gunn; sister, Leona Whitis; brother, Don Grine; and son-in-law, Bill Edwards.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 4-7 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier with a Rosary service to follow a 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montpelier with Father Andrew Wellman to officiate. Interment to follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in West Unity, OH.
