Herbert W. Nofziger, 97, of Lyons, OH, passed away August 9, 2023 at Fulton Manor in Wauseon.
He was born May 7, 1926, near Wauseon, the son of Clarence and Ida (Yoder) Nofziger, and married Virginia Nofziger on July 25, 1948 and she preceded him in death on January 3, 2016.
He became a farmer at young age helping his father and continued with his own dairy farm until his retirement.
He remained a farmer at heart even when he moved to Fulton Suites in 2017. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time and doing things with his grandchildren, and also traveling with friends.
He was active in the Wauseon FISH Program. He was a former active member of the Inlet Mennonite Church near Wauseon and was a present member of North Clinton Church at Wauseon.
Herbert and Virginia had five children, Barbara, dec’d (Richard) Henricks, Jane (Terry) Wyse of Wauseon, Mike (Gwen) Nofziger of Lyons, Stephen Nofziger, dec’d., and Matt (Lynelle) Nofziger of Wauseon; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; siblings, Melvin Nofziger, Burdell (Janice) Nofziger and Marilyn Verbeck.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and siblings, Waneta Gerig, Letha Waidelich, Arlene Springer, and Alvin Nofziger.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 12 at 11 AM at the North Clinton Church with Pastor Neil Wyse officiating. Interment will precede at 9:00 AM Saturday in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may call at North Clinton Church from 4-7 PM on Friday.
