Williams County officials took advantage of this time before the holiday season to expound on the dangers of impaired driving.

“The Drive Sober campaign is an awareness effort to get the message out that drunk driving is illegal, and it takes lives.”

“Let’s make this a partnership between law enforcement and drivers: help us protect the community and put an end to this senseless behavior of driving while impaired,” said Peg Buda, Williams County Safe Communities Coordinator with the Williams County Health Department.

Williams County Sheriff Tom Kochert was there too, sharing how important it is to get a designated driver in the event that you are intoxicated.

Ohio State Highway Lieutenant Rustun K. Schack was there as well, sharing that his department will be cracking down on all forms of impaired driving.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s alcohol, marijuana, illegal drugs, or prescription pills. If you are driving impaired you will get pulled over and arrested, it isn’t just a small fine you could be facing,” he said.

Driving while impaired could cost you over $10,000 in legal fees, your license, jail time, and have a lasting impact on your record. So, remember Williams County, Drive Sober or get Pulled Over.
