Pettisville’s Nofziger Pitches Perfect Game In Win Over Fayette

(April 16th, 2015) – FAYETTE: It was a performance to remember, as Blackbird senior Dustin Nofziger faced off against 18 Fayette batters, retiring them all to end the game in six innings. Not allowing a single run or walk, Nofziger pitched a perfect game against the Eagles for the road victory.

Pettisville bested their Eagle hosts 10-0.

The contest began in Pettisville’s favor, as the Blackbirds scored a run in both the first and second innings of play. Their offense stalled through the third and fourth innings, before adding 2 more runs in the fifth. In a surprising turn of events, Pettisville more than doubled their 4-0 lead during the sixth inning, producing 6 runs to earn a 10 run advantage.

Fayette couldn’t get anything going offensively, failing to get a single hit off of Nofziger’s pitching. The bottom of the sixth proved to be no different, as the Eagles couldn’t force a seventh inning to be played.

Pitching all six innings, Nofziger had an enormous game on Fayette’s field. Not only did he refuse to allow a hit, let alone a run, but he struck out 9 batters as well. He didn’t even give up a walk, securing his spot in Pettisville lore with a perfect game.

Koby Biddix took to the mound for the Fayette boys. In 5.1 innings of work, he gave up 7 earned runs off of 10 hits, though most of that damage came in the final inning of play. Biddix struck out 7, while walking a pair of batters.

Freshman Dillon King had a great game from the plate for Pettisville, hitting 2 for 3 for 2 RBIs. Tate Kauffman, a senior Blackbird, capitalized on 2 of his 3 plate appearances, hitting a single and a double. He also scored 3 times. Nofziger also helped his own cause while in the batter’s box, hitting a double.
