(April 30th, 2015) – WEST UNITY: With two strong Buckeye Border Conference teams matching-up against one another, the contest was bound to be a close one. The difference between the squads was quite thin on Thursday, April 30, as just 1 run separated the visiting Cadets of Hilltop from the hometown boys of Edon.

The Bombers edged out Hilltop 3-2 to claim the victory.

The Bomber boys struck first, scoring a run in the bottom half of the second inning. They echoed that display in the third as well, giving Edon a 2-0 advantage going into the fourth inning. Hilltop would answer in the top of the fifth and sixth innings, adding 1 run to their total in each frame. While this tied the two teams at 2 runs each, the deadlock didn’t last long. The Bombers put up another run in the bottom of the sixth, reestablishing their lead. Holding Hilltop scoreless in the top of the seventh, the boys from Edon secured the tough win.

Landon Bloir had a phenomenal day from the mound for the Bombers. Pitching for all seven innings, the junior standout allowed 0 earned runs off of 5 hits. More impressively, he struck out 14 Cadets, walking just 3 in the win.

Jalen towers absorbed the loss for Hilltop, throwing for all six innings. A senior, Towers gave up a mere 2 earned runs from 6 hits. He also had 2 strikeouts and 2 walks on the evening.

Bloir helped his own cause from the batter’s box as well, hitting for an RBI single in a 1 for 3 showing from the plate. Teammate Preston Klingler also drove in a run, earning an RBI double while capitalizing on 1 of his 2 plate appearances.

Tyler Suboski led the bats of Hilltop with a 3 for 3 performance. All 3 of the freshman’s hits were singles. Justin Ashenfelter and Quinn Smith also hit for singles, with each Cadet having a 1 for 3 day at the plate.
