(Monday, May 4th 2015): HILLTOP—The lady Cadets propelled past the visiting Stryker Panthers on Monday night in a 5-inning contest. With a phenomenal pitching performance by Freshman Aubrey Wyse, Hilltop was able to hold off the Strykers while boasting their offensive prowess.

Starting on the mound for the visitors was Miranda Maynard: Maynard struck out 4 batters in 4 innings while walking 3 and giving up a total of 3 hits. Opposing Maynard was Hilltop’s Aubrey Wyse: Wyse exhibited steady focus allowing only 1 hit and striking out and walking 3 batters.

Hilltop moved quickly with speed while on base, accumulating 4 stolen bases by 4 different runners. The Cadets put runs on the board early in the game, leading 3-0 at the end of 2 innings. Miranda Pegorch drove in a runner on a single in the top of the third for the Panthers to put the score at 3-1; however, the spark of aspiration would be quickly diminished as Hilltop would go on to score 10 runs in the following 2 innings resulting in a landslide victory.

Aubrey Wyse, Julia Dunson, and Zoey Abner each recorded a double as Sophomore Ariana Brown tallied three RBIs on the night against the Panthers. Hilltop’s record climbed to 14-7 in the season; Stryker would board the buses at 1-16 as they would prepare to face Ayersville at home the following day.
