Ohio State Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash In Lucas County

(PRESS RELEASE) Jerusalem Township, Lucas County — The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on January 21, 2024, at approximately 6:44 p.m. The crash occurred on State Route 2 near Lyon Road in Jerusalem Township, Lucas County.

Caleb E. Moore, age 23, of Cleveland, Ohio, was driving a 2016 Honda CRV westbound on State Route 2. Terry L. Miller, age 67, of Curtice, Ohio was driving a 2008 Toyota Camry eastbound on State Route 2. Mr. Moore proceeded to drive left of center striking Ms. Miller head-on.

The right front passenger in Ms. Miller’s vehicle, Mary R. Spetz, age 92, of Oregon, Ohio, succumbed to her injuries and died as a result of the crash.

Ms. Miller was taken to Mercy Health Saint Vincent Medical Center with serious injuries, and Mr. Moore was taken to Saint Charles Hospital with minor injuries.

All occupants were wearing their safety belts; however, alcohol and marijuana impairment is a suspected factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Patrol was assisted by the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, Jerusalem Township Fire and EMS, Oregon Police Department, and lifeflight.
