Unabelle Smith, age 83, of Delta, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon. Prior to her retirement she had owned and operated, along with her husband, Bud, Smith’s Twisty-T-Freeze in Delta for 34 years. She had also owned a clothing store in Liberty Center, many years ago.
Unabelle was born in Fulton County on February 12, 1932, the daughter of Ted and Martha (Krauss) Elling. On April 9, 1950 she married Bud Smith, and he survives. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta. She was a past-president of the Delta Business and Professional Women (BPW) and had also taught ceramic classes.
Surviving besides her husband, Bud, are three sons, Gary Smith, Don (Ann) Smith and Tedd (Peggy) Smith, all of Delta; one daughter, Sharon (Bert) Russell of Delta; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nephew, Leon Elling of Cecil, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leon Elling; nephew, Stanley Dale; and two granddaughters, Jamie Russell and Adrianne Smith.
Visitation for Unabelle will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Eric Markovich, officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.
