(Member Of Zion Mennonite Church)
Charlene Faye (Nafziger) Short, 82, of Archbold, passed away peacefully in her home on February 29, 2024.
Charlene was born on September 21, 1941 in Wauseon, Ohio, to Orval and Ada (Crossgrove) Nafziger. She married Merle Short on February 18, 1961, who preceded her in death on December 21, 2016.
Charlene attended nursing school in Toledo and worked as an LPN. After the birth of her first son, she became a full-time mother and farm wife.
She was an active member of Zion Mennonite Church for most of her life and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
After Merle’s retirement, Charlene volunteered at Care & Share with him, delivering items to the Salvation Army and Kitchen for the Poor in Toledo. She loved her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Charlene is survived by her sisters, Barbara Aeschliman, and Sara Nafziger, two sons, Gary (Alice) of Bedford, Texas, and Tim (Missy) of Wadsworth, Ohio, her grandchildren, Marianne and Rose Short, Crystal (Morne) Coetzer, Rachel Andrews, and Shane Andrews, and great-grandchildren Raegan and Jordan Coetzer.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 7, at 11 AM at Zion Mennonite Church with Pastors Sue Short and John David Thacker officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 4-8 PM.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be given to Mennonite Central Committee or Archbold Fish.
