2024 Edgerton Homecoming Takes A Trip “Through The Decades”

The Village of Edgerton kicked off Homecoming celebrations at Miller Park on Friday, July 19th, 2024. Friday’s schedule of events included a car show from 4pm-6pm sponsored by Dream Haven Adult Care.

The entry fee was $10 with participants voting. The categories were best classic car, best classic truck, best motorcycle, best modern car, best modern truck, and Mayor’s choice.

Food trucks and different organizations were set up for the community to enjoy. Food trucks included Lupita’s Mexican Store and Restaurant, Keppler’s Cornerstone Kitchen, Pink Penguin Premium Ice Cream, FFA pork burgers, Scout Troop 296 had ice cold pop and water, and a few Edgerton Cheerleaders that won the All-American Varsity Cheer had a free will donation bake sale.

The Edgerton Chamber of Commerce handled the adult drink tickets. The local Boy Scouts also had an inflatable BB shooting range to test your skills.

The Edgerton Youth Soccer Team was also available to answer questions and get kids signed up for the program. Then at 7pm Rekt, a band from Dekalb County, Indiana took the stage for a free concert until 10pm.

On Saturday, July 20th, the Homecoming Parade kicked off at 11am. Edgerton 4th grade teacher Jason Zumbaugh emceed the parade and entertained the crowd with ‘his dad jokes.”

The parade entries included local police and fire vehicles. American Legion Post 10 carried the flags followed by the village council members Leslie VanAusdale, Pam Wampler, Jason Gruver, Lance Bowsher, and Sharon Blinzler on golf carts.

The 2024 Miss Edgerton Cara Schroeder, Little Miss Edgerton Grace Waikel, and Junior Miss Edgerton Leighton Showalter, Queen of Queens Serina Puente, 2023 Queen Cara Miler, and runners-up graced the street followed by the local Boy Scout Pack 29 and Girl Scout Troop 10487.

The Hicksville Bank passed out buckets of candy to eager children followed by the Edgerton volleyball team. The Edgerton cheerleaders up next giving the crowd a taste of everything they learned at cheer camp followed by the Edgerton Band.

Edon joined the parade with a float from the Edon Dairy Treat and 2023 Miss Edon Queens Clara Reiztel and Cora Brigle.

Parkview Care Center, Williams County Commissioner Terry Rummel, State Representative Jim Hoops, Northwestern Electric CO OP, Free and Accepted Masons Bryan Lodge #215, WPCL, Air-Way Manufacturing, Life Changing Church, Edgerton FFA, Never Let Go Ministries, Edgerton Free Store, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Machine, Bryan Ohio Bargains, Edgerton United Methodist Church, Pahl Ready Mix, and bringing up the rear was Truland Equipment.

After the parade a few local businesses opened to the public The Studio event venue held an open house with free will donation food from Nick’s Kitchen and Catering.

Floral Designs was open with bouquet making. The Methodist Men had their chicken dinner sale from 11am-1pm. The Edgerton Historial Museum was open from 12pm-2pm.

Back at Miller Park the FFA Ag Olympics kicked off from 1pm-3pm This included hay bail rolling races and tossing. Family Night concludes Homecoming 2024 welcoming back the food trucks, inflatables, crafts and games, and a free live concert by Teaz’n Lacey.
