(Graduate Of Edon High School)

Glenn Dale (Smiley) Humphrey, 81, of rural Montpelier, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 at his home. He was born on October 9, 1943 in Northwest Township to Cleo Dale and Luella May (McCrea) Humphrey.
Glenn graduated from Edon High School in 1961. He honorably served his country in the United States Army. On April 24, 1970 he married Karen Sue Rummel at the Bridgewater Church and she survives.
Glenn worked for over 40 years at Robinair in Montpelier, where he was the department head of machining. After Robinair closed, he worked at Scranton Machine until his retirement.
Glenn was one of the founding members of the Northwest Community Auxiliary where he and Karen assisted with fire runs for the Northwest Fire and Rescue.
His world revolved around his family. He truly was the proudest Grandpa ever. He never missed an extracurricular activity and always had his camera to capture his favorite kids in action.
Retirement made more time for FFA activities, 4-H projects (yes, Grandpa, we have another animal) and all sporting events. Later in life he was rarely seen without his tablet so he could read his current book wherever life took him.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Karen S. Humphrey; two daughters, Angie Humphrey and Nancy (Bobby) Kissinger; three amazing grandchildren, Gabby Siebenaler (Jamie Harbin), Travis Siebenaler and Nathan Myers; siblings, Bob (Susan) Humphrey and Gail Phillips; his favorite cat, Moo; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Alan, Wendell and Jerry Humphrey.
We want to thank Dr. Muthusamy and every single staff member we met at the Parkview Cancer Institute. We are genuinely grateful for all the kindness and caring shown to us over the past ten months.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 12-4 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Brad McCrea officiating. Interment will follow at the Columbia Cemetery with military honors being presented.
Memorials may be given in Glenn’s memory to Northwest Fire and Rescue or Northwest Community Auxiliary. Condolences may be left for the family at www.thompsonfuneralhome.com.
