Williams County Pork Producers Recognize Volunteers

(PRESS RELEASE / THE VILLAGE REPORTER)
HOG PEN PROJECT … Williams County Fair King Kaden King and Queen Ingrid Hoffman, Williams County Pork Producer Treasurer Gene Andres, Williams County Fair Board President Pam Goll receiving a pledge for $5,000 for the Junior Fair Hog Pen Project from Williams County Pork Producers Vice-President Garold Keppeler and President Paul Haines.


RENOVATIONS FUNDING … Williams County Pork Producers Treasurer Gene Andres, Williams County Veterans Memorial Building Treasurer Stacey Walkup and Secretary Nic Hill, Williams County Pork Producers Vice President Garold Keppeler and President Paul Haines. A check for $2,500 was presented from the Williams County Pork Producers to the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building to help pay for expenses in floor renovations and a new furnace.


(PRESS RELEASE) – The Williams County Pork Producers recently welcomed around 200 volunteers and their families, at the Veterans Memorial Building in Montpelier, in recognition for their work at the 2024 Williams County Fair.

A delicious meal was served featuring the club’s signature pork loin and catered by Keppeler’s Cornerstone Kitchen.

Following the meal, Bill Priest, emcee for the event, listed the quantities of sandwiches and other sales at the club’s food stand during the fair.


Paul Haines, club president, recognized the club’s achievements and donations for 2024 which included: donations to the Blizzard Auction, six $500 college scholarships to area high school seniors, 4-H Camperships, meat donations to area FFA Chapters, bicycle drawing at the fair, Fair King and Queen Scholarship Fund, fair trophy sponsor, Junior Fair Hog Pen Project, 4-H Livestock Auction, and the OSU Extension_ Hurricane Flood Relief Fund.

Haines was then joined by representatives of the Williams County Fair Board and the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building for presentations of donations to each organization.

Following the presentation, the crowd was entertained by Elijah Edwards, a local Comedic Hypnotist.


Williams County Pork Producers 2024 Fair Statistics

200 volunteers
4100 pounds of pork
12,100 sandwiches
10 – 5 gallon pails of pickles
46 bottles of ketchup
44 bottles of mustard
14 gallons of barbeque sauce
40 pounds of horseradish
100 pounds of sauerkraut
160 pounds of onions

Donations made so far in 2024


-$5,000 pledged for the swine barn gate project.
-$900 to Williams County 4-H for 10 camp scholarships.
-$3,000 for college scholarships to six 2023 graduates.
-$2,700 for 18 Pig Scramble projects for this year’s fair.
-$300 to the Williams County Fair King & Queen Scholarship Fund.
-$1,962 to the Jr. Fair Sale Committee for 4H projects at this year’s fair.
-$200 for this year’s Blizzard Auction to benefit United Way.
-$220 to two county FFA programs to assist with their annual banquets.
