Leroy Lyons (1932 – 2025)

Leroy C. Lyons, age 92, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 3:25 A.M. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, surrounded by his family.

Leroy was an inspector at General Motors in Defiance and retired after 29 years of service. In retirement, he worked part-time for several years at HHK in West Unity and Wilco Pattern in Bryan. Leroy was a member of the Pulaski United Methodist Church.

He was also a US Army veteran who served from 1950-1953 before being honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent. Leroy was an avid fisherman and his driveway was a local meeting point for breaks and fisherman to swap stories.

Leroy C. Lyons was born on August 26, 1932 in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Wesley and Martha (Earlston) Lyons. He married Ollie M. Shelton on September 14, 1953 in Breckenridge, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2018.

Leroy is also survived by his daughter, Deborah VanScoder; son, Jeff (Karyl Cape) Lyons, both of Bryan; 5 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Jane Ridenour.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gary Lyons and Clinton Lyons; great grandson, Cody Lyons; brothers, Ralph Lyons, Clarence Lyons and Richard Lyons and sisters, Donna Smith, Margaret Stahl, Kathryn Smith, Lillian West and Florence Struble.

Private family services will be held at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Inurnment with graveside military rites by the combined Bryan American Legion/VFW Honor Detail will be held at Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 13, 2025.
